2018 Venice Biennale – Occhio is the main sponsor for the exhibition in the German pavilion

Grand opening of the exhibition

On May 25th, the exhibition UNBUILDING WALLS in the German pavilion at the 16th Architecture Exhibition La Biennale di Venezia in 2018 was opened successfully by State Secretary Gunther Adler and Federal President Michael Müller. More than 1.000 enthusiastic guests, the who's who of the architecture industry, celebrated this festive event. Occhio is main sponsor and thus provided atmospheric lighting at the opening party.

Occhio is very proud to be the main sponsor of this year’s UNBUILDING WALLS exhibit in the German Pavilion of the 16th La Biennale di Venezia 2018 architectural exhibition. The exhibition is curated and designed by Wolfram Putz, Thomas Willemeit and Lars Krückeberg of Graft Architekten together with the Green politician Marianne Birthler.

UNBUILDING WALLS

Germany has been reunified for 28 years, which is precisely the number of years that the Berlin Wall divided Germany. In the German pavilion, GRAFT architects and the Green Party politician Marianne Birthler have used the time parallel in the context of the exhibition entitled UNBUILDING WALLS to examine the impact of separation and the process of healing as a dynamic spatial phenomenon. With regard to the concept of »Freespace«, which is the overarching topic for the 16th La Biennale di Venezia 2018 architectural exhibition, the focus was primarily on exceptional urban and architectural examples that deal with separation or coalescence. Occhio is main sponsor for the exhibition.

Occhio provided the right light for the opening party at the Giudecca rowing club: Guests were greeted by a Mito staging that showcased the entry’s vaulted brick ceiling. An ensemble of Sento lettura floor luminaires provided a pleasant atmosphere in the lounge.
